  • Bone & Joint Journal, Belgian single-centre propensity-matched study of 780 uncemented THAs: dual mobility had about one-tenth the dislocations of ceramic-on-ceramic but three to five times the femoral periprosthetic fractures — Komat M, et al. Bone Joint J. 2026 Oct 1;108-B(10):1231-1237; doi 10.1302/0301-620X.108B10.BJJ-2025-1810.R2; indexed in PubMed October 9, 2026 (PMID 42853085). EpiCURA Hospital, Saint-Ghislain, and Université Libre de Bruxelles. 1,415 uncemented THAs, 2017 to 2024: 425 dual mobility vs 990 ceramic-on-ceramic. Periprosthetic fracture 4.0% (17/425) vs 0.8% (8/990), OR 4.8 (95% CI 1.86 to 12.4); after propensity matching (260 vs 520) OR 3.5 (95% CI 1.3 to 8.6). Dislocation after matching 0.4% (1/260) vs 4.0% (21/520), OR 0.09. Femoral neck fracture as the indication independently raised the risk of both fracture and dislocation; no significant interaction between bearing type and indication. Authors' conclusion is hedged ('may be associated'). Retrospective design; no conflicts declared. Source
