[0:00] Hi, my name is Leanne Levitt from Business for Surgeons. So welcome to the 3rd video for Doc Social. So in my previous video, we looked at Instagram specifically. But today we're gonna be looking at Instagram versus Twitter, the pros and cons. So we've got 3 pros, 3 cons for you.
[0:19] We'll start with Instagram, shall we? First pro for you is that Instagram is great for sharing content and connecting with your fellow medical professionals. And number 2, you can share this in a variety of different ways. So you've got IGTV reels, stories, posts, OK? And number 3, you can work with influencers. So these are typically accounts with 1000 followers or.
[0:48] More at Business for Surgeons, we love to work with our loyal, most loyal surgeons, and when our surgeon of the day comes out, that is a great feature for us and to promote them as well. With Instagram, you've got 3 cons as well. So you can only post a picture with content, OK? So you cannot just post content on, on its own. You have to accompany your content with.
[1:17] A picture. Buying followers is also another con. Um, it may not be the best route for you to go down because this won't capture your target market. And Instagram as well, you have to be very active with 3 to 5 stories a day, which can be quite challenging for a busy physician. So I've got my 3 pros, 3 cons for Twitter now. So Twitter is.
[1:42] Quick, compact, and easily digestible. You can also post tips and links to Research articles. The great thing about Twitter is that it's limited to 280 characters, so it's great for an elevator pitch format. So the three cons for Twitter, OK? A con is that it is limited in characters, so you can't be posting long informative posts, OK?
[2:09] And number 2 is that Twitter can be quite addictive. So you could, could be on there for just looking at your gossipy information, misinformation.
[2:22] And Other random posts. And number 3, lots of um people can be posting like emojis and pictures and memes. I mean, I've been guilty of this on Business for surgeons Twitter. I posted a Valentine's picture, but I don't do that very often, so it's very rare. So just a quick sum up, Instagram will allow you to create great content quickly and.
[2:50] Easily. Our Twitter is great for sharing ideas and having a support network. So back to Twitter. We've got our 3 hashtags, which are very popular in the medical industry. So we've got #med Twitter, surge Twitter, and ortho Twitter. So, one of the trends on Twitter at the moment is match day. So very exciting for medical students when they get matched into their chosen specialty. So what
[3:18] They normally do is they take a headshot, define their specialty, and a quick bio about themselves. So for an established physician, this can be quite great way to go about getting your profile noticed. So it can tell you about yourself, your achievements, your specialty, and getting your thoughts and opinions across. So when I launched Business for surgeons, I did put in about the family.
[3:46] Founder piece out there. And then it's almost 6 months later now, I've put a meet the founder tweet. So it's just reiterating to your followers and your audience who you are and what you do. To conclude this video, with the sheer volume of users and a high level of engagement, Instagram makes the best platform for you to promote your practice. So Instagram, their volume.
[4:14] Of users have surpassed Twitter's in recent years. And that's why it makes a great shop face for your chosen specialty. So I understand that time is precious for doctors and surgeons, and that's why, in my opinion, I would stick to one platform, and that would be Instagram. Please check out our Business for surgeons Instagram account. Look what we're up to, what we're doing, how we position ourselves at Business for surgeons.
[4:42] We have our Social Media management package, so that can assist you with expert advice and take a bit of the workload from you. Get in touch. I hope you have enjoyed these three videos. I've enjoyed presenting to you. If there's any ideas you've got, please get in touch with us. Just with education, any videos or articles, let us know. Thank you so much, and hopefully see you next time.
