Dr. Joseph Abboud is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of patients with shoulder and elbow disorders at Rothman Orthopaedics Institute. He is an internationally recognized authority on the treatment of shoulder and elbow disorders. He is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and has recently completed his four year term as the Senior Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Rothman. During this time he worked with the executive leadership team to oversee a time of tremendous organizational growth of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.

-His path to becoming an orthopedic surgeon, including being born in Beirut, Lebanon and immigrating to the U.S. at 5 years old. He’s been in Philadelphia since 10 years old and is most proud of the fact that he has been caring for patients in the Delaware Valley, Philadelphia, and South Jersey since the late 90’s.
-He discusses kicking off the inaugural meeting of Shoulder360 as a course chair. The concept of the meeting is to provide a comprehensive shoulder course focusing on shoulder repair and reconstructive surgery. The course chair’s are keeping the education engaging with tapping into the culture of South Beach and adding judges with commentary and scoring to panel discussions.
-We hear about how he recently completed the General Manager program at Harvard Business School to help further his business acumen and his recent course completion on the MIT Sloan Blockchain Program.
-We discuss the future technology of shoulder surgery to include balloon spacer for patients with difficult rotator cuff repairs.
