Factors associated with injection utilization in knee OA patients

In this retrospective chart review of 761 patients with newly diagnosed knee osteoarthritis, we analyzed factors that were associated with intra-articular knee injections. We found that females received more initial injections and more additional injections suggesting a difference in disease onset, progression, or pain receptive compared to males. Race, insurance status, and age at diagnosis of OA did not significantly affect utilization of injections.
