Informed Consent: A Sterile Processing Perspective

How much does a surgical patient really know about what is about to happen to them when they go under anesthesia? Or perhaps a better question is, how much do frontline Sterile Processing professionals know that could positively or negatively impact this person’s surgical outcome? This CE approved lecture will discuss the theme of informed consent, but with the particular perspective of the Sterile Processing technician in mind — and show the full scope of information available to our teams that patients really have no information about. If informed consent is ultimately about making informed choices, our industry owes it to the public at large to continue to educate around who we are, what we do, and why it matters.
