Ep#187 – Book Study Part 1 – Fierce Self Compassion

Celebrating 50,000 downloads and introducing you to the amazing Dr. Jillian Rigert.  Jillian has incredible depth, kindness, and compassion for others.  We are teaming up for this book study because both of us lived for years without self-compassion. . . and we’ve had to learn differently.

Today’s episode of the podcast covers the Introduction and Chapter 1 of Dr. Kristin Neff’s book Fierce Self-Compassion.  We’ll talk about what stirred in our hearts, why we’ve believed that we aren’t good enough or worthy of kindness/compassion, and how we think differently today.  It’s an offering to take your internal work on self-compassion even farther.

Part 2 of the book study will release in a few weeks and cover Chapters 2-4.

Jillian references Dr. Olivia Ong’s TedX talk “How to Be Your Own Best Friend” – find it here.

Ep #185 – Better You

Today’s episode is simple. . .big smile.  At least it’s intellectually simple.  It’s quite challenging to do consistently.  We are looking at what it takes for you to be a better you.

We’ll explore both the mindset and strategy in 6 different areas.  The goal is to create compelling arguments so that there is no turning back.  So that you are committed to the practices that set you up for success.

The time to be a better you is every single day.  Start here with this episode.

Ep 184 – How Free Do You Want to Be?

Ahhh. . . friends. . . where do we go after a podcast episode on Betrayal?  Big smile.  I think we talk about what was opened up, the patterns of coping from the past, and all of the opportunities that are now available.

Today’s episode is around the question ‘How free do you want to be?’.  You will hear the question intentionally presented in many different ways.  All so that you can cultivate a more unstoppable life.

Ep #183 -Betrayal with Dr. Tracey O’Connell

“Do you know anyone well versed in leading a conversation about betrayal – giving language to the emotions, and opening up to healing?  Bonus points if it’s you.”

That was the invitation to Dr. Tracey O’Connell, who graciously said yes.

She’s an incredible human – deeply insightful, compassionate, and empathetic.  Tracey has lived a full & courageous life.  She started as a Radiologist and has evolved her skills to include facilitating Dr. Brené Brown’s Daring Way program, leading expressive writing programs, and coaching people on sustainable well-being and positive self-worth.  She knows how to lead difficult conversations.

Today’s conversation is about betrayal.  It’s a complex topic entangled with strong emotions, and is a deep wound for many of us.  We’ll  share our stories and do some processing in real time.  We’ll also talk about what has helped in the past and what helps us today.

Experiencing complex emotions, such as betrayal, is part of the human experience.  The episode is an offering for you to give language to any deep wounds that may be present, and start the journey of healing knowing that you are not alone.

Tracey O’Connell, MD is a self-described “recovering physician” who expanded her career in Radiology to being an educator, speaker, and coach, fostering positive self-worth and sustainable well-being with teens, physicians, and LGBTQ+. She is a certified facilitator of expressive writing and Brené Brown’s shame resilience programs. Her change of direction came after many years of feeling “not enough” as a person, a physician, a parent, or partner. She learned that helping people FEEL better helps them feel BETTER. Owning how we actually feel, how we’d like to feel, how we don’t want to feel, and how others feel, significantly helps sustain our self-worth and well-being.
