Navigate Pain is changing the game by intervening with individuals who are at-risk for long-term musculoskeletal conditions by getting to them before their cases become chronic, avoiding multiple complications before they have a chance to manifest.
We had a great conversation about this process and how they plan to interrupt the current system of that’s overly dependent on the treating practitioner. Patients should be in control of their own health and Navigate Pain provides them with the tools to do that. We hope you enjoy this episode. Please leave your comments.

This week, we are joined by Jan Ground, PT. Jan led innovation and virtual care at Kaiser Permanente Colorado, where she worked for 18 years. Currently, she is the Colorado Liaison to the Southwest Telehealth Resource Center and the Colorado Ambassador to Telehealth and Medicine Today, an online peer-reviewed journal. Very active with leadership roles in the American Telemedicine Association, Jan leads a group looking to prove, with the use of data, that telehealth is worth paying for, even after COVID-19. And telehealth is not just video visits!
Ms. Ground’s greatest expertise is in leading change, a significant need in implementing virtual care, and in working with leaders to clearly define a measurable problem before implementing a new approach to care. Her greatest passion now is working with healthcare leaders to lower the cost of the American healthcare system without lowering clinical outcomes OR improving clinical outcomes without increasing the cost.
Jan led Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s first Innovation Team, and she is an expert at asking provocative questions that lead to viable solutions and 360 degree buy-in. You’ll hear Jan work her magic in this episode and I’m sure this discussion will make you think about how you approach innovation and change in your life.

This week, Daniel Seidler and Adrian Miranda are joined by David Dansereau. David has practically written the book on how to successfully navigate an unconventional career in Physical Therapy. He’s been in corporate health research, private practice, remote and mobile consulting, digital therapeutic product development, sports performance, and more.
Most notably, in 2006, at age 39, David had a stroke. That life altering experience has guided his life and career since. At the time, he utilized existing telehealth tools to access worldwide experts throughout his self-guided recovery. The experience has fueled his passion for digital-first healthcare technology adoption and using sensors and biofeedback to help give patients more control over their own health and recovery.
David’s story is epic and inspirational and his credits are extensive. He also is the most prepared guest we’ve had so far. We get into several of our wheelhouse topics and more:
- Technology adoption and rejection by PTs
- Preparing PT students for a digital future
- Wearables and Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM)
- IoB – Internet of the Body
- Stroke recovery in the home and life post-CVA
- Lessons learned at a pharma conference
Throughout the conversation, I kept thinking to myself, “David Dansereau is one impressive dude.” I’m pretty sure you’ll be impressed too.
